Work Done by Ringway Volunteers on Opening up a Tring Footpath

I’m told volunteers from the Ringway workforce carried out some work under their Community Payback Scheme on Footpath 41 between Silk Mill Way and New Road in Tring.
There’s still a huge amount of work to be done but it has been opened up quite noticeably. The improvement of Footpath 41 between Pond Close and New Road is Project 22 on the Tring & Berkhamsted Urban Transport Plan.
Cllr Nick Hollinghurst hopes that the worst section and the unused land bordering the canal feeder stream running down from Brook Street (the clue’s in the name, folks!) can be tackled at the same time under a 4-way partnership. He has in mind HCC, DBC, Canals & Rivers Trust and Community Volunteers working together to improve the land on either side of the path to make a cleared and landscaped leisure area. The Minister of the nearby Baptist Chapel has said he is willing to co-ordinate the social involvement and volunteers to make it all possible.
It could be a really interesting and satisfying project for all concerned and leave a lasting legacy for the nearby residents and visitors.
