Tring Liberal Democrats E-Mail Herts Highways Department about Icknield Way Speeding

Dear Sirs,
I attach two photographs of the crash at the weekend when a car went into a house.

This just adds force to my and the local people’s arguments that what we need here is some effective traffic calming measures and better visibility along the road.
I and the local people are asking for the following:
(a) better visibility (hedge cut back/down)

(b) effective traffic calming (a speed indicator)

(c) a zebra crossing for safe access to the Longbridge Road/Bushells Wharf area

(d) 30 mph stretch to be moved west to start at far end of football club
Visibility is looking east from Chapel Meadow is poor for both pedestrians and drivers.

More people will be crossing the road in future now that 2 new footpaths have been established north of the Icknield Way.
Moving the boundary of the 30 mph stretch will give drivers longer to respond to slowing down for the congested New Mill area.
There is a number of young families with 40 or so school age children in the Longbridge Road/Bushells Wharf area needing to cross the Icknield Way to go to school.
Please bring the investigatory work forward as quickly as you can.
Regards,
Nick Hollinghurst
