More Freight off the Roads as DB Schenker Rail Handles Teesport’s Scottish Container Traffic

DB Schenker Rail UK is to run a direct daily railfreight service, Monday to Friday, from Teesport in Middlesborough – owned by PD Ports – to Grangemouth in Scotland.
The service will start on Monday 3 August and will transport containers to Mossend.
The onward leg to Grangemouth from Mossend will be jointly handled with W H Malcolm who manage the Grangemouth Rail Terminal.
George Lippitt, Business Development Director at PD Ports, said,
“The recent investment in a dedicated rail terminal at Teesport is part of PD Ports’ wider growth strategy to position the Port as the Northern Gateway for containerised goods destined for the north of the UK. In the last three years we have installed a new terminal operating system, the new Rubber Tired Gantry cranes and Reach Stackers. In addition we have made a significant investment in yard infrastructure.”
