Lib Dems Pledge Extra Cash to Improve Women’s and Minorities’ Safety

Experienced local Councillor Chris White, Lib Dem Candidate for Herts Police Commissioner, has pledged additional resources to tackle crimes against women and minorities.
Chris said: ‘The vast increase in domestic violence and racially motivated crimes is a huge cause for concern. And the way that information is currently collected masks the misery faced by countless individuals, such as high frequency domestic violence victims whose plight is not actuallyrecorded in the statistics once they get past the first five assaults. There has been some pioneering work in the county but more needs to be done.

‘Public safety is also being undermined by cuts to local services, including the County Council plans to switch off street lights at midnight. As the Police and Crime Commissioner, I would appoint advisors specialising in issues affecting women, young people and other vulnerable groups.’
