STABBED IN THE BACK!
Between Labour ‘s London Mayor Sadiq Khan and the Tory minister Chris Grayling South West Herts has been stabbed in the back with the cancellation of the Met Line Extension.
Local leaders have come up further funding but there has been no leadership shown by Chris Grayling – with the result that Sadiq Khan has finally refused to take on the project – funding notwithstanding.
The project would have connected the Metropolitan Line to the West Coast Mainline at Watford Junction. This would have opened up rail access into northwest London for residents of Milton Keynes, Tring, Berkhamsted, Hemel Hempstead and Watford.
New stations would have provided easy rail access to Watford Hospital and the football grounds. It could have easily been extended further to provide Watford to Aylesbury services and would have boosted the economy for the whole of South West Herts and Watford.
Local residents had been depending on this project to finally get straightforward access to Watford hospital without having to run the gauntlet of Watford traffic jams and match day congestion.
This, if true, is a bitter disappointment and everyone feels very badly let down.”
Chris Grayling, the Tory Minister, should never have let things come to this. .”
