Victoria Collins, the Prospective Parliamentary candidate for Harpenden & Berkhamsted, pays tribute to the work of the Harpenden Trust and to more than 500 local volunteers who regularly give up their time to help people in need across Harpenden. Victoria attended the Harpenden Trust AGM, where she met volunteers and heard about the extensive programme of support offered by the Trust.
The charity has introduced a number of initiatives to support the community including the Memory Lane Café and the Well Bean (“well-being”) Café, befriending programmes, a cancer support group, care for the elderly and support for families during the cost of living crisis. The Trust has also helped across the community such as local schools with grants for essential equipment.
Victoria said: ‘Harpenden Trust is an incredible asset for the community, we are privileged to have such a dedicated team of volunteers who are willing to give up their time to help others. You can never underestimate how support and interaction can impact someone’s well-being. The Trust and its volunteers are doing an invaluable job in supporting the community here in Harpenden.’
