Well, anything connected with highway work in Hertfordshire is amazingly slow. However, I am still chipping away at the traffic and parking problems in New Mill.
ose they seem to be surviving pressure from the Heygates lorries very successfully.
Now I am trying to get some extra spaces at Sutton Close under a County Council scheme. This is not easy however and some investigation has had to be done because of two obstacles in the verge – both visible in the picture. One is a telephone connection cavity (on the front left) and the second is an a road drain inspection pit.
The picture shows an engineering team clearing out silt and mud to improve flow and enable an inspection to be made. The good news is that it will be possible to replace the top ring of the pit with a shorter one – thus reducing the height and allowing a car parking space to be constructed – and the telephone cavity is not going to be a problem either..
So now we wait for the next stage!
