Fly Tipping – Residents are Warned Against ‘rogue traders’

It’s that time of year when youstart to think about a spring clear out.
Lib Dem Spokesman for the Environment, Nick Hollinghurst, Tring and the Villages, is urging residents to check that anyone who offers to take away your waste is actually authorised to do so. If your waste is fly-tipped, this could be traced back to you – resulting in a hefty fine or a criminal record.
Nick said: “Fly-tipping is a serious offence, and an eyesore. It costs tax payers to clear up. Cases will be investigated and if caught those responsible will be prosecuted.
“We need to raise people’s awareness of the importance of using a licensed waste carrier.
“Rogue traders tend to prey on older and vulnerable people and so we urge people to look out for any neighbours who could be targeted.”
