Tring Carnival - 23-26 June

June 1, 2016 2:35 PM

carnival panel 16Tring Carnival is a big event for a small town.

The Carnival week runs from Thursday to Sunday lunchtime and the highlight is the Saturday Carnival Day which is a smashing community event for all the family.

Wild West Theme for 2016!

It is a local event, organised by a large number of local volunteers, and involving close to 500 local people. The entry price is small and the enjoyment value is big.

  • An opportunity for local charities and businesses to promote themselves and sell their products
  • An opportunity for all the local schools to be involved in a "whole town" event
  • An opportunity for local people to work together to be part of a really good event that they can be proud of

Carnival Day

The walking parade starts the day, with all the local schools involved; from Tring School band leading the parade to Goldfield Infants School tripping along behind. Organisations and businesses are very welcome to join in the fun and the parade consists of around 20 organisations and 400 people. It is an amazing feat of logistics and the participants are very enthusiastic.

The parade makes its way to Pound Meadow where there are stalls galore, food & drink and entertainment. We aim to have a massive array of local charity stalls, topped up with local businesses - however we will take bookings from further afield to fill the space. Most of the entertainment in the arena is from local groups; anything from bands and dancing schools to sports clubs and dog obedience classes. However, we splurge on one main professional act in the arena to attract a bigger audience. We feature a small number of fairground rides and there is, of course, a dog show.

Food and drink play a major part in the day. Tring Brewery run the bar and other local food providers play a large part. There are five major caterers and as many cake stalls as can be squeezed into the field.

As well as Carnival day, the marquee is available as a show venue from Thurs - Sunday lunchtime. Local charities can use the marquee to raise sizable funds for their causes.
