2016 Flashbacks - 3.Wigginton Autumn Flower and Produce Show
It's not just Aldbury that has a Gardening Club - Wigginton has one too. Mind you, with many people having close links to both villages there's a certain amount of overlap and duplication of participation. Do you live in or near Wigginton? Then why not join in too.
If you like fresh air, a serious challenge, a sense of achievement (when things go well!), a productive hobby, the delicious taste of your own fresh vegetables and insight into the true value of food - then the Wigginton Gardening Association is for you.
If you've got a bit of land to work then take part in the noble but age-old battle against weather, pests, passing opportunistic small mammals and marauding pigeons.
You'll find friendship, people who are only too happy to help and pass on their gardening tips and country lore - fellow gardeners with impressive skills and knowledge.
There's always a bit of friendly competition around as show time approaches, but hey, it could be your Longest Bean or tastiest Six Cherry Tomatoes next year - there always seems to be a generous amount of beginner's luck on hand.
But if a prize eludes you then you can still enjoy Scones, Jam and Cream, the usual tea and coffee and excellent cakes baked by the skilled ladies of the village at the Show. These are held in the Village Hall on Chesham Road near the ever-popular Greyhound and this year again thanks are due to .
And there's a social dimension to gadening too. Last year there was a Coach Outing to Abbots Ripton Hall Garden Show (near Huntingdon), the Annual Show is always just before the middle of September, there are talks in the Village Hall and usually a Social Night in the Hall on a Friday in December.
