Liberal Democrats say, “Tory-Led Herts County Council is Letting Down Children who need Additional Support”.

Liberal Democrat Councillors on Hertfordshire County Council have expressed concern and disappointment in the £5.5m slippage of vital Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) capital spend from the current year.

The delay in expenditure was revealed at a meeting of the Hertfordshire County Council Resources and Cabinet Panel on Friday 1 October, 2021.

Cllr Sally Symington, County Councillor for Tring and the Opposition Spokesperson for Resources & Performance, said,

“There is a continuing increase in demand for Education, Health and Care Plans (ECHP), but the Council is failing to deliver for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

It is shocking that the County Council has not expedited this much needed expenditure to provide essential facilities for young people with SEND across Hertfordshire.”
